Christian Peters

Associate Director of Research

Dr. phil. Christian Peters is a political scientist and research strategist whose work examines the intersections of institutional governance, scientific uncertainty, and the politics of knowledge. As the Managing Director of the Bremen International Graduate School of Social Sciences (BIGSSS)—one of Germany’s leading institutions for doctoral social science education—he sustains an interdisciplinary research environment for over 60 fellows. He also serves as the Academic Director for Education and Career at DIFIS SOFO, where scholars investigate the impact of emerging technologies on social policy. Over two decades in academic leadership, he has built international research programs and fostered scholarly collaborations across Europe and North America.

Christian’s research has long engaged with the complexities of the social sciences, ranging from the dynamics of higher education and populist politics to the relationship between religion and the state. His current inquiries focus on how modern institutions interpret and govern “emerging forms of intelligence,” including UAP. In this work, he examines the ways in which scientific uncertainty is processed by political systems and advocates for a robust social-scientific framework to understand these phenomena—a perspective he advanced in his 2023 Scientific American article, co-authored with Greg Eghigian, “It’s Time to Hear from Social Scientists about UFOs.”

He holds a bi-national doctorate from Technische Universität Dresden and the École Pratique des Hautes Études, Paris. Christian is also a dedicated painter, and his visual work often explores themes that run parallel to his academic interest in the limits of knowledge and perception.

As of April 2026, he serves as the Associate Director of Research in the Sol Foundation’s executive leadership. In this role, he brings his deep experience in research strategy and academic governance to Sol’s interdisciplinary mission, helping to shape a rigorous scholarly approach to the study of emerging intelligence.
